DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
Hurricane Gonzalo is currently located at 30.4N and 66.1W
Current observations from weather reporting stations from
Wunderground and official weather station from the nearby
airport shows winds are reaching tropical storm force. Hurricane
Gonzalo is expected to reach the island by tonight or early tomorrow
with major hurricane force winds near 120 mph with greater gusts.
Gonzalo is moving towards the north-northeast at 16 mph with winds
to 125 mph and central pressure at 947 mb which was measured by a
NOAA hurricane hunter plane.

HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO ONSET LATER TODAY WITH TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ALREADY BEGINNING ON THE ISLAND

RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO REACH 3 TO 6 INCHES WIDESPREAD ON THE ISLAND

STORM SURGE

LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED WITH GONZALO AND WILL PRODUCE MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING ALONG THE COASTAL AREAS

ALSO ACCOMPANYING THE STORM SURGE WILL BE LARGE WAVES UP TO 20+ FEET
